CertiK and NEXUS Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Security, Auditing, and Stablecoin Infrastructure

CertiK recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NEXUS, the blockchain infrastructure behind South Korea-listed company CROSS Protocol, to enhance security, auditing, and stablecoin infrastructure of the CROSS ecosystem. This MOU agreement is the beginning of a long-term collaboration between CertiK and NEXUS, in light of accelerated adoption in on-chain gaming and the need for security to keep pace with blockchain-based transactions.

As part of this collaboration, CertiK will provide its world-class auditing services, as well as smart contract-related security, on-chain risk monitoring, and regulatory frameworks for Asia-based stablecoin projects. CertiK’s services will help maintain robust security across NEXUS’s payment infrastructure and the CROSS ecosystem currently in development.

More specifically, the MOU covers four main pillars:

  1. Security and smart contract auditing: CertiK will conduct security audits for NEXUS and CROSS; CertiK will strengthen smart contract security for payment and gaming contracts; CertiK will review modules related to stablecoin issuance and settlement.
  2. On-chain risk monitoring: CertiK will monitor key chains and contracts; the companies will collaborate to review on-chain risk signals impacting NEXUS; the companies will share intelligence around potential vulnerabilities and/or emerging threats.
  3. Asia-based compliance and stablecoin frameworks: The companies will collaborate to develop regulatory and audit frameworks tailored to Asian stablecoin projects; they will explore best practices that align with evolving compliance and risk standards; CertiK will support NEXUS in building infrastructure that is secure and adheres to relevant regulatory frameworks.
  4. Expansion into Asia markets and business development: CertiK and NEXUS will create market strategies for blockchain security and enterprise solutions; they will collaborate around ecosystem building and partner engagement.

The companies will also collaborate in terms of business development in Asia, which is part of CertiK’s long-term initiative to expand its service offerings into Asian markets. CertiK and NEXUS will work together to further CertiK’s Asia market strategy, which will, in turn, broaden the scope of its cooperation across blockchain security and enterprise solutions.

Ronghui Gu, CEO and Co-Founder of CertiK, stated, “As stablecoin and on-chain gaming continue to grow, the industry’s need for trustworthy security, clear governance, and strong compliance has never been more important. Our partnership with NEXUS is an important step toward advancing security standards across Web3. We look forward to working closely with NEXUS to support the ecosystem’s long-term growth and innovation.”

NEXUS CEO Hyun-guk Chang stated, “Trust, security, and regulatory readiness are core elements in expanding the blockchain ecosystem. Our collaboration with CertiK will not only secure global-level security standards but also become a turning point that accelerates NEXUS’s business expansion.”

Since its inception, CertiK has supported more than 5,000 projects worldwide and safeguarded approximately $600 billion worth of digital assets. Our service offerings include penetration testing, Skynet, SkyInsights, KYC verification, and node services, all aimed at helping projects elevate their Web3 journeys.

Verus Incident Analysis

On July 23, 2026, an attacker exploited the Verus Protocol’s Ethereum cross-chain bridge, draining approximately $7.44 million in ETH, tBTC, stablecoins, and MKR. The attack relied on a discrepancy in how Verus and Ethereum interpreted notarization data: malicious duplicate state-root entries were included in otherwise legitimate notarizations, signed by Verus notaries, and then relayed to Ethereum, where they overwrote the genuine trusted state root.
